5 cents

Nicole, "Ouch, I just hit my nickel on the wall". I had to explain to Nicole that it was her knuckle not her nickel. She then asked me, "what's a nickel". You know you are a missionary kid when you don't know the names of all the US coins.

Oh, boy, do we understand that one! :) Claudia has had to learn them for math, but she is much better with Peruvian money and gets confused with American $. Thanks for sharing Nicole's story a few posts back. I enjoyed reading it. I find what you mentioned about the Spanish influencing our girls, too. I don't think it is just studying in Spanish (because our girls never studied in a Peruvian school), but just being bilingual is an issue. Spanish is so much more straight forward when it comes to spelling and English has so many exceptions to the rules that it makes it hard for those who speak both. I am a bit concerned about how that will affect our girls at FCS this fall. Hopefully they will have very understanding teachers! :) Have a great afternoon!
